A TPLO Cruciate Surgery
TPLO cruciate surgery repair can now be performed at Drovers Vet Hospital. TPLO surgery has been shown in numerous recent studies to offer the best short and long term outcomes with cruciate disease/ rupture. The surgery involves performing a curved cut through the top end of the tibia (shin) bone and then rotating that to achieve a more level joint surface. This reduce what we call the Tibial Plateau Angle and reduces dramatically the shear force on the knee joint and thus the cruciate ligament. Post-operatively patients are placed on a continuous intravenous analgesia (pain) drip and discharge is the following afternoon/ evening.
If your pet has cruciate disease/ rupture and you have been recommended surgery and struggling to understand all the different types of surgery and which may be best for your pet - give us a call and make an appointment to see either Dr Wayne Shipham or Dr Luke Frichot and we would be happy to go through all your options for your pet and can then recommend the best surgical procedure.
